I recently tried to cancel my insurance on the mighty and highly desirable Signum. There was 3 full  months remaining.

Policy only cost £135, so a refund for 3 months came to £33.75. :y

Then they informed me about the £50 early exit charge. :-X

They just can't help themselves. :-X

She's presently insured with Carol Nash cost around £300 last year renewal is due in the next couple of weeks they're coming up at £266 on the Go compare app be interesting to see what they quote at the renewal ,if it's £266 we'll stay with  them. We both have clean licences & maximum NCB.

Any advantage in using the comparison sites apps over the website?  :-\

I've used booking.com and Agoda quite a lot recently to book flights and accommodation, and sometimes the prices are better on the apps than the website.  :)

I have a regular habit now come a month before the renewal date.  I get a string of quotes through from the likes of Confused.com, then with the cheapest go back to my regular insurance broker, The AA, who by then have always put through a quote higher than from the comparison web sites, strictly taking in benefits, excess etc.  The AA then at least match the cheapest/best benefits quote after some calculating.  Works a treat! ;D  ;)

My wife’s renewal arrived a couple of days ago. Surprisingly it’s £30 cheaper than last years renewal.  :)

As i turned 80 last year i was expecting to get shafted on the renewal last month. It actually went down this year,  but only because i changed to another company, as the one i was with wanted double last years premium. >:( Bloody thieves.

The boring answer is that insurance companies look for a variety of risk categories to build a book of business. Some high risk high premium, some low risk, low premium.

The £1000+ means the insurer doesn't want your wife's level of risk. A bit like asking a busy builder to quote you on a job.
