Crank Seal Inner Ring, How is It Sealed?
« on: 26 March 2025, 18:34:34 »

So inside crank seal was a ring as seen. I am just wondering how it is sealed to crank or sprocket. Engine oil can flow between crank and this ring so is somewhere a missing gasget or do I have to put sealant somewhere?

the outer diameter is sealed via the front crank lip seal .... the bore/inside diameter is sealed via the crank pulley being tight against the front face of the ring. You might want/need to turn it round so that the crank seal has a new bit of the ring to seal against it. no sealant required.  :y

Thanks Andy B, I was afraid I'd lost spmething. Good idea to turn it. It is badly worn. I tyrn it if I can polish the other end, seem to be corroded. Perhaps I can find a spare, quite strange contruction.
Torque value for crank bolt was not mentioned in V6 list of maintenance part. Any idea. I have Heynes somewhere but did not find it yet.

It should clean up OK with some fine emery cloth  :y

No idea I'm afraid, just know they're tight.

Crankshaft Sprocket Bolt according to Haynes manual:

Stage 1:  250 Nm
Stage 2:  Angle tighten a further 45 degrees
Stage 3:  Angle tighten a further 15 degrees

I have a link to the manual so I’ll try to send it to you so that you can check it for yourself.  :y
