Bonnet cable snapped - where can I get a new one?
« on: 03 August 2025, 13:01:41 »

Lots of posts over recent years with the same issues very few replies or links to suppliers, these seem best to impossible.

I can't believe it's beyond the wit of Man to get a custom one made up, maybe even with stainless wire. Any thoughts?

The cable is easy; it's just a traditional Bowden cable as used on bike brakes for decades. So you buy a length of suitable size cable, slide it into the outer and solder on either your reclaimed ends or new ones.

The hard parts are getting the bonnet open, and figuring out how long the new inner needs to be.

Fair enough, cheers Nick.

The engine bay end has a flattened bit, not unlike a very large head of a nail. I'll have a play about and report back to the land of OOF, for critique  :D
