If the fluid is DOT4 then it HAS to be able to be mixed with other fluids this is a condition of the DOT 4 spec.

However, even so, silicone fluid is not recommended in mineral systems as it ha been known to cause problems with the brake seals.  As said, a mineral DOT 4 fluid will be just fine.

Yep dot4 will mix with dot3 and dot5.1 which are all glycol based.

Steer clear of dot5 as this is silicone based, will not mix with other brake fluids but not very common so you are unlikely just to come accross it.

Just got the spec for manual gearbox oil

Its: SAE75W-85 API GL4.....its the same as that used in Agilas and Vectra C...

Plenty to choose from, have a look at the Fuchs Titan Sinto Fluid 75w

Not ready for oil just yet but will be soon at the mileage I am doing. Have joined in anticipation.
Oilman how about some Snowdrift oils, I havent seen their oils for a while! :-X :-X :-X
