How about a name and shame of scammer traders on e-bay and other internet sites to help fello members to avoid..........Could be for part or other purchases as members are always asking for help with potential purchase's.

Good idea in many ways, but the Forum would have to be wary of the legal implications of someone deliberately 'slagging off' another individual without evidence or justification. :-/ :-/

Yes but the legal ownus falls back on the site admin for letting the "comment" stay in place...

I think that we have all felt a need for "revenge" at some time, I myself feel agrieved at the way my local MOT/Garage have conned me into spending more than I needed to to get my car through it's MOT, but I have to agree that it would be foolish (and expensive) to name that Garage.
Sometimes, you have to bit the bullet and accept that on occasion, you will have an incident which upsets you. I look back at the service which I recieved in the past from this garage, and on the whole, I have been quite satisfied. My experiance recently was bad, and apart from voicing my dissatisfaction with the Manager/Owner, I have the option to take my business elsewhere.
As far as having a bad experience with Ebay, that is what their Feedback Rating System is for. Check the feedback befor you buy...If you are deeling with someone with bad feedback, then that is a case of buy at your own risk.

The law is developing on this issue, but it is currently possible for the Admins to be held responsible for defamation by a member.

It is changing though, most recently in favour of website owners. Story from The Register.

I dont think any of this was going towards revenge. An honest and factual reproduction of customer experience is what many of the high profile sights are offering. I dont see there is any difference...

Freedom of thought and speech is ripe on the net, to go to litigation would have a pretty tremendous root cause. The first step of litigation avoidance would be for the defendant to ask for the offending material to be removed, once removed there is no longer a case...

Working in "Fraud" as it where, this would be a epicly bad idea...

Just begging for repetes - better to advise on the warning signs rather than the working.


after "The Real Hussle - Vegas" we had a hugh increase in the amount of fraud attemps, granted all old hat and seen from a mail away but shows that no matter how well intensioned - infomation can and will be mis-used

This is in know way a "revenge" tactic it is simply a way of helping other members avoid a mistake that i had made and if you had delt with this guy you would know why i wanted to name and shame as opposed to just thinking of "well some you win.... some you lose". He knows e-bay very well and can cause people who leave negative feedback hours of tidying up trying to get strikes removed so on and so fourth.

Also you get a list of abusive e-mails. He sells that much that his feedback score stays high i have also noticed that some people have left possative feedback but have negative comments but as with all things you look deeper and deeper when you are faced with a problem.
I have bought alot of things from e-bay and this is the worst e-bayer i have ever had the misfortune to deal with he trys to steal your money and give you crap in return.

This is where the new feedback system falls flat on it's arse ---- even the "negative" positives increase his score and the neg comments can be (and often are) removed by eBay themselves

Strikes me that the seller should leave feedback for the buyer as soon as the buyer has paid for the item, because the buyer has fulfilled his part of the contract at this point. It is then up to the seller to fulfil his part and provide the goods.  If the buyer then has cause to complain he should be allowed to leave negative feedback but this could be removed if the seller can justify his actions.
Part of the problem seems to be that ebay don't want to get involved in disputes because it's too time consuming and would cut too deeply into their vast profits. They prefer it if it's totally self regulating and they can just sit and watch the money roll in!
