Computer Help - Codecs

Any one know of a codec so I can run .FLV files through media player.

I have downloaded an FLV Player but would prefer to play the video's through media player or winamp.

I would be wary of putting on those stupid codec packs - they tend to cock things up more than they solve.

flv is Flash video, isn't it? So Flash should play (may have to put it in a wrapper first)

I have been using K-lite for years and never had a problem or had an issue where I couldn't play a video/music that a quick update to the latest pack wouldn't resolve

The K-lite one in particular causes slowdowns, and instabilities in the VFW/media chain.

In an attempt to make it seem like a massive bundle, most of the codecs overlap capabilities of each other, leading to the issues it creates.  The whole vfw interface is old and not that great, adding loads of unnecessary codecs makes the whole chain unstable.
