1996 ones were the seperate fob type, not sure if same switches (but mega reliable anyway, as are the prefacelift ones). Battery holders are weak point.

The mini facelift fobs are now starting to break same problem as the facelifts switches jamming up with gunge

Do you replace the rubber cover or just refurbish it ?

I have a couple of spare covers, but usually try to repair, quite often a bit of carefull gluing works well
