Hi yes but I think thats because it was changed from msconfig menu and system restore is turn off so I could remove a virus the system will just keep booting in safe mode basevideo.  I need to get back from this mode to normal safe mode them I can get into msconfig and back to normal.   I just dont know what comd to type in basevideo to get me back to safe mode?

Yeah, there should be a way to enter system recovery if you need to from the Windows CD IIRC.

you need to edit your boot.ini file to remove the /basevideo bit ...

If you can't edit it from the computer you have a problem with try copying a boot.ini from another XP machine direct to the faulty one ..

boot.ini is a hidden file in c:\

A "standard" boot.ini looks like this ..  :

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Hi yes but as I siad it set to start up in basevideo within safe mode because it was set from msconfig so I could remove a virus.  In this mode only the basics are running stops the little buggers from opening and you from removing them.

I just need to get out of basevideo and back to safe mode.
