having waited two weeks someone to contact me having bought my car, i had had to wait for ebays 7 day from sold, then 7 days from dispute to take place, someone decided to neg me yet had also paid a fifty quid apology by paypal for being so late and messing me about

why is ebay full of idiots and so easy for dick heads to get an account!

anyway,  happy christmas, hopefuly they will remove the unjustified feedback (which states i left him a neg,  how can sellers leave negs? that got scrapped a year back!)

Tell me about it !!!!!  We sell a couple of hundred items a week on e-bay and on our web site --- all the problems come from eBayers!!! Generally they seem unable to read the item details, Ts&Cs and postage rates, expect it to arrive the day before you post it and then whine about postage ( which is often less than the actual cost to us !!)

Thankfully i don't sell a great deal via ebay, though i've just sold a couple of xbox 360 games & quoted £2.00 for recorded delivery for each game which only came to £1.38p for each. So i contacted the buyers & asked them if they wanted the 62p returned to which they declined, but at least i offered which more than some do. I've bought stuff in the past & some peoples postal charges are a wee bit over the top, but i guess they must charge for fuel, tyres, wear & tare on shoes etc

Some people do seem to expect to be compensated for their time going to the post office etc.   That doesn't seem right to me although if the postage is transparent in the ad , you do know what you are bidding inc postage.

We are also a business and we factor in time too ( after all no-one wants to work for nothing. We spend a couple of hours each evening packing). Given all that we do average out costs a little and in some cases charge less than the actual cost.

At the end of the day the costs are there up front and buyers can take or leave them. What does annoy me though are those who charge 99p for a small item and then slap on £5 "P&P" !!!!

You should take into account fuel if you have to drive to your local PO & your time packing etc (i should have been more clear). I was refering items that are clearly not from a business & like my self, i don't see why i should charge for my packing time & me walking up to the PO. I didn't charge them for the padded envelopes, because i used some old ones that i'd had items sent in. This way i think it makes some thing more attractive to a buyer & they're more likely to give you good feedback

I sell alot of stuff over eBay at work.  Some stuff is quite awkward to post, suchs as a roof trim for a Freelander.  Weighs about 500 grams but its about 8 feet long and therefore the post office won't take it so we send it via TNT which works out a little under £15.00 for a basic parcel to a residential address.

Sometimes we do list smaller parts and round the cost up to £5.00 but only when the overall cost of the item is significantly lower than it would normally be to a showroom customer.

People moan about postage costs but sometimes it really does cost alot.

Also it is clearly stated in the auction and it's they buyers choice to put the bid in.

I have come accros this on some Items I have placed a bid on, sometimes you can tell so I do not place further bids, most things I buy I could get an alternative so not a problem.

And the other side of the coin is..... I bought a faulty HP DV9000 laptop for bits recently. It should have been an AMD Turion machine with an uncracked screen. When it arrived, it had a label on saying Turion, but it was an Intel processor, the top was broken, and the screen was visibly cracked. I emailed him back, and he said he was on holiday at the time of posting, but would look into it. Several days passed, nothing heard, so I emailed again, and he said he was on holiday at the time of posting but would look into it. Last week I emailed him again, but he said.........
So, sod it, I emailed him today, said that unless he got off his arse pretty quick I would start Paypal proceedings, plus as he hadn't sent what I paid for, it was unrequested goods and if he didn't collect it within a month I am entitled to keep it. He apologised and asked me to send back for a refund. As I am working in NI, I have to spend part of my precious time with my family wrapping the sodding thing up and posting it back. And will I get all my money back including return postage?.

Some people rely on buyers finding it too much trouble to send things back. Paypal ask that you use recorded delivery, which costs 80p, to send something back, but if the item only cost £1.50, its hardly worth the effort.
Fleabay could be good, trouble is there are a number of bad buyers and sellers that screw it up for everyone.
