im certainly not saying that i earn a poor amount.... on its own its a very good salary - but when that is the only salary to support 2 adults and 2 kids living in my own house and paying council tax it doesnt go far. and all i want is some cavity wall insulation that they are throwing at everybody else for just a signature.

and i aint saying im happy to live on this amount - i'm just saying i work bloody hard with not alot to show - you can see why the spongers do it to get housing benefit, council tax paid for, free school meals, vouchers for shopping, benefit for every kid they throw out

its about time the goverment started to support the backbone of the country who put alot of money in, rather than the can work wont work tossers

my x wifes next door neighbour was fiddling for 5 yrs, estimated benefit fraud was 44000 sign off or were take you to court, thats all they said. she now pays it back at £10 a week i think.

dirty stinking pissshead below me gets extra payments for being an alcoholic.  

when the goverment pamper the shite and penalise the innocent for being out of work.  it does not pay being honest and hardworking

ive always said that child benefit up to 2 children, you want anymore than that, you pay for them. not the taxpayer. why should i pay for someone to have half a dozen kids for 16 yrs.

Easy one this  
Move out for a few months....(where could be a problem   )
Rent your house to someone you know on benefits.....(you get a max of around £550/month iirc in rent from housing dept)
Then apply for cavity wall insulation grant.......coz the renter is on benifets you'll get 100% grant  
Once its done, chuck em out and move back in  
(tho you have to give em 2 months written notice)

Ok.....probably not an option......but its one way to get it free

you can get up to £500 for "improvements" depending on the age of your baby.
It should be in the back of the baby book you got from the midwife under benefits

I was discussing just that with mrs ians this evening.   Apparently that witch that staged the kidnap of her daughter was raking child benefit in for having seven kids (I have not seen the news recently so this may be completely wrong).    IAfter the first couple she should know where they come from and take responsibility.   I don't see why I or any other tax payer should automatically be subsidising them.

I take around the 25 mark as a basic and I consider myself very fortunate, when I see so many jobs advertised at 14k, etc!

Have you seen the situation in Africa? They'd give their right arm for a fraction of what you get.

I know it's not financially easy, it's not for me either - but just remember, there are always many, many worse off than you are

So would SWMBO. From ages back hers & all the local councils jobs have been 're-evaluated' and she's likely to go from around £19K to £14 and a bitK. It would have been about £14.5K but as a lot of people have been 'sucessfull in their apeals' the council have moved the goal posts back and reduced the projected wages!! HTF Unison have allowed that to happen is beyond me.

OP .... £850 mortgage! & I'm moaning about my daughter's uni accomodation of around a grand a term!

Had a bit of experience of the benifits sysrem a few months back.
I drew the conclusion that if you are prepared to lie and know how to play the system you could do reasonably well.
you need to con a doctor into going down the incapacity/disabled/carer route on your behalf and then there is enough money available to make quite a few jobs not worthwhile bothering with.[quote]

My mum was declared unfit too work due too reasons that are personal and was placed on Incapacity benefit....she received the grand total of £78 a week.

Part of that she had too use too pay water rates so about £65 ish she was given too live on...luckily she didnt mind being cold so the gas wasnt much and she would only have on the very basics TV..kettle used just too boil 1 cup of water (shall i go on  )

Luckily ive mostly been in a position too help her out with bills (dont forget bills/debts aint suddenly wiped out when you start receiving benefits) so she avoided the humiliation of being dragged through the courts due too not having enough money too pay them.

So id really love too hear how by conning the doctor (you've of course had a doctors assessment done yes... so you"ll know just how tough they are yes..) your awarded this that and the other.

benefits seems to be a mute point with a lot of people these days, especially as things are getting harder and harder for people on a financial level....

My wife was earning about 20K when she was working, she has been off on the sick now for 3 years and just been signed off for another 6 months, due to her illness (M.E.) it does not look like she will return to work for the forseeable future either.

She is very lucky, her work are still paying 50% of her salary, in addition she gets disability living allowance at the lower level, i believe that is about £30 a week, a helpers allowance, another £30 a week and she has a blue badge.

She feel guilty taking this because of the stigma attached to benefits, she has worked all her life and so has paid into the 'benefit pot' in fact she still pays tax and NI on the 50% she receives from her company.
My view is, if you are genuinely entitled to it, bloody well take it, the social system was put together to help those who are in need.

i agree. ive been off 3 weeks now, i havent bothered claiming sick pay and i know i should do, money is running out here. last time was 3 yrs ago and the hassle i went through trying to get benefits, when i did finally get them, 6 weeks later, i was going  back to work. benefits agency are the most useless people ive ever come across

this may look like a begging post but its not trust me...


recently i've wondered why i bother to go to work every morning and work bloody hard for my £27k + overtime a year when i could sponge off the country and get everything for free.

my mrs doesnt work becuase of the new baby but she didnt work before due to moving to a new area then getting pregnant.

now i am fully aware if i couldnt afford a baby then i should have been more careful - but thats not my point.

my mrs has a little boy by a previous partner who i think pays £12 a week (although his family is minted) so all she gets is child benefit.

i've recently wanted to get the cavity wall insulation done and bearing in mind my budget is pretty stretched at the moment £200 is alot to shell out when i could be spending that helping to clear a few loans off.

why is it that the sponging can work but wont work population manage to get everything for free no questions asked but when someone who has paid alot into the goverment coffers through tax cant manage to get a small sum waived to get cavity wall insulation.

apparantly i earn too much....£1500 between 2 adults and 2 children after tax doesnt go very far when £850 of that goes straight on a mortgage and nearly £120 of that on council tax.

just because i earn my money for a living rather than sitting on my arse watching jeremy kyle all day i am branded one of the many workers who the goverment can monthly rape on the 15th of each month

You should be able to claim Tax Credits, if you have not tried already
