Hell  What have you installed in the pci slots on your mobo ?
You must have some stuff I dont use all I got for major gaming stuff is a  8800 gtx gr/crd that does take up extra room but not a pci slot as they are set further over other side of the 2nd Gr card slot (sli) there is only 2 pci slots & one is occupied my Creative Fatality XFi sound card other slot is empty ...so what else you got filling up pci slots ?
I too have to use a soundcard as the onboard sound is Naff no 5.1 set up available.
Did have a Hauppage tv card installed (rubbish pic) but removed it after buying a £20 tv /usb gizmo that works a treat and is removable so can stick it my old laptop when i need ! ;) :y

At 3,000ft over London, I'm getting 12-13fps. Not good, but it didn't freeze on me at all just now! Target is set at 20fps. I've only got SP1 at the moment. I'll dig out SP2 on the MS website later.  :y

Take out the USB.PCI card to give you the spare slot you require and then get a Powered USB hub.

But in all fairness depending on budget I would ne tempted for a Motherboard upgrade.

agreed..

Are we talking XP service packs, or FSX service packs? I think I'm up to date with XP and I installed the FSX SP1 a couple of days ago.  :-?

Im talking FSX sp2. It sorts out quite a few graphic problems.
Another tip: Turn off the clouds they consume loads of memory. ::)

Thanks Iain!  :y

I'll check that later. What resolution do you run?

Incidentally, I don't know if you like flying civilian jets, but I got an email from "Captain Sim" a couple of days ago and all products will be EUR 9.99 on Monday. I quite fancy getting the B757 Captain package.

Here's the message and the link:

We are pleased to announce that exclusively at Captain Sim online store, on the 29 Dec ' 08 from 00:01 to 23:59 (GMT) everything is Euro 9.99! Visit us at: http://www.captainsim.com

My system is:
AMD Athlon 2800 cpu (single core)
Nvidia 7300gt-512mb agp video card
frame rate 23 fps
Resolution 1280x1024x32
global texture = medium
On the page-Terrain & water
settings are:
Level of detail =medium
Mesh compexity=47
Mesh resolution=76m
texture resolution=2m
water effects=none
Scenery complexity=normal
Auto gen density=Dense (slider 60% to the right)
Special effect detail=low
I belive the 757 needs fsx sp2
Dont worry about your frame rates as mine can drop to 8 fps !
