Changed my LNB for a quad output but..........
« on: 31 January 2009, 16:17:04 »

lost BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4.  Still have all the other channels and the recording 2 channels at once thingy now works.

Did all the usual resets, updates, signal tests (got a v good signal) but just cant get those channels to work.  Popped the old one back on and I get them again....v strange!

Any experts out there know whats going on?  (Im in Europe.....shhhh)

What size dish do you have?

Have you got the same azimuth on the new LNB?

BBC are on a tighter footprint than some other channels.

Why shh? Can't think of any problems

This is my worry but the other LNB works fine so surely this one should?

Sky will cancel your contract if they find out you are outside the UK.  I have to call them through Skype so as not to show my German number  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Think that the skew on the LNB may be wrong, check on www.dishpointer.com for confirmation. Wrong skew causes loss of some transponders.

If you know how to get into the "secret" installers menu check in lnb set up that the 22KHz Command is set to on  :y

LNB Horizontal / Vertical posistioning is incorrect! try twisting the lnb sideways about 30 degrees the BBC & C4 services are broadcast in a H signal as  opposed to a V signal or its the otherway round  but try what i said and report back :y

BBC & C4 & ITV are also relayed of Hotbird 13E if thats any interest the channel frequancies are at www.lyngsat.com

I think I know what has caused the problem.  My dish is a european dish with a european LNB.  I ordered an LNB from teh UK.  Apparently the LNB skew angles are different, not so much for the majority of channels but for those which it matters, BBC and C4, its enough.  I am waiting for a European LNB to come through now to see if I was correct.

I will post the results  :y
