Brother in law has it and he says its a bag of rubbish, always having problems with it due to picture breaking up, had the people out, had a new aerial etc but still getting problems, might be a one off but its kept me away from it.

Depends. If you have sky plus and just want to upgrade to HD, its debateable. You may be disappointed at the lack of content, although with the inclusion of eurosport HD i have now renewed my £10 a month extra sub. Depends on what you like to watch.

Nout wrong with picture, quality is stunning on some channels, i find myself watching some real crap just for the picture quality. 1080i or 720p only though.

If you new to sky and sky plus then youll love it, bit buggy though.

Got Sky+ already just put it back on since coming back, got half price at the moment, and just bought a new HD tv. Issue is that you need to take it for a year and if the glitches as mentioned are there I may just leave it ::)

See http://www.avforums.com/forums/sky-hd/ for all info you need about technical glitches and deals available. With the new epg you can also receive ITV HD (only occasional footie and films on at present) but it means that ITV hd is no longer exclusive to freesat. We've had it for 2 years and couldn't go back to watching sport in SD.

I have had Sky HD for over a year and I can't fault it, The new EPG is a huge improvment over the original one and 100 times better than the slow & clunky Virgin Media EPG. I know friends & family who have virgin and although they think its ok I find it annoying to use.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both services.

Virgins got 3 tuners vs Sky's 2.

Virgin can stream content from a large library of films, music & programs direct through fibre optics vs Sky Anytime which is just a pick of the week sort of thing that gets copied to your box overnight.

Virgin has 1 HD channel which is BBC HD and is only a part time channel (also has a selection of HD content to stream) vs Sky's 29 ish HD Channels.

Virgin interface slow and hard to use (in my opinion) vs Sky's easy to use and faster interface.

Virgin can be cheaper than Sky (depending on tv packages etc) but I belive in you get what you pay for!

Virgin box = ugly vs Sky HD box = Thing of beauty.

Virgin box doesn't like 1080 resolutions on some TV's & makes the menus blocky you have to use 720. No resolution issues with sky hd that I know of but it is only 1080i.

Plenty of pro's and con's to help decide. Personally the Sky service is much better.  :y

Absolutely, and in some cases 1080i can look worse than 720p
