I remember the mini 12th and the cascade of bands along Templemore Avenue each one playing a different piece, but especially the reverbation of the base drum in my chest as the drummer beat the keek out of as he walked past ;D ;D

What short memories people have. Do we really want to go back to Tory rule where we sold the family silver (Rolls Royce, BT, British Gas etc) to pay our way, then destroyed the coal, steel, ship building and car industries, and when mortgage interest was 17.5%?
It is the media who are destroying this government, not Gordon Brown.

I have to say H12 that he's made a fairly good attempt ;).....  and was there not a question about gold reserves being dumped in very unfavourable circumstances.....and is not a fact that this man, despite being at the heart of government for over 10 years, finds himself presiding over the currently parlous state of the nation.

One of the highest taxed by indirect means, one of the most lawless and inconsiderate and one of the most survielled in Western Europe, as far as I can see, it's not indication of a leader who can be justifiably satisfied with his work :y :y

You need to read his book"Where there is greed" which he wrote 20 years ago.

I have not read that H21 so can't debate the merits or otherwise of its content. :y

Irrespective of his personal morality, we can only judge his content as a political leader by what we see.

I think it's reasonable to say that most people would see an overly-focused, micro-manager who cannot embrace true leadership.  An unelected leader at that, and a leader who has let the system on government run out of control to the extent that it is almost entirely discredited :y

Final salary pensions are virtually non existent in the private sector and the same thing will have to happen in the public sector, when we get a leader with the balls to do it. ;)

......and big ones at that - as they used to say, 'I can see a row as big as a fight', over this very thing ;)

Only recent one who would have had the guts was a woman ;D

Ah yes, the most hated one to.

But, when some can see past the local issues that cliud thier vision, they will note how the hard decisions were made and Uk came out with no debt and a good economy..

Then Gordon Brown breaked it all up again!  ;D ;D

No Albs, he went to Harrow from 1888 to 1892.

There is nothing wrong with Eton or Harrow, which have steadily produced the leaders this country has required at crucial times in history.

It is only jealousy and snobbery that ignores the fact these are great learning institutions, which if you had the money you would want your children to attend.

The problem is that you need money to give your child the best education possible, and that is the shame of our non-meritocractic education system, which holds back working and middle class children. :( :( :(

Mrs Thatcher went to grammar school...I'm sure you thought the same of her. I suppose you'll only be happy when we get a leader that was expelled from a sink school.  ::) ::)

no nickbat, i just think it unwise that a country as diverse economically, socially and culturally as we are should be run by a small section of super-rich white elites. you cannot tell me cameron has a clue about ordinary people - which is why he wisely speaks nothing but bland platitudes

"we need change"
"we need less crime"
"it's time for change"

he's a lightweight - despite his world class education

he says nothing, he's done nothing he's an empty shell

the worst thing Brown ever did was make that sleekit wee nyaff cameron look electable

.........but, bannjaxx- that's what government is all about, and always will be ;) ;)

sleekit wee nyaff

.........nice to see the Ulster/Scots lexicon getting a wee touch there :y :y

the worst thing Brown ever did

.......if you don't mind my saying so bannjaxx you're being quite charitable there, I can think of one or two-------hundred things that Broon has saddled this country with ;) ;) ;)

DC's content will only become apparent when he sets his stall out and until then, he is an unknown quantity :y  The only thing I can justifiably say about this is, the product better be worth buying :y :y
