just to be clear, there's this myth that us up here in the civilised world love to watch england fail now i'll let you in on a little secret:
cricket: we don't understand it or care who wins
rugby: a few sheep farmers in the borders care, no one else does really
football: we know we're garbage - we expect to fail and we can handle it - we don't hate england and to be honest a decent run in a major competition from england makes it all the more entertaining - we actually like your team and deep down have a great respect for it - honestly, the only thing we don't like is the media's obsession with Englands divine right to win anything and the abuse the team get when they fail! for us - we would love half a dozen of your players (actually all of them)
thats the truth - you heard it here first
I get really annoyed about any hype like that.
That was why the RWC win in 2003 was so good - little hype.
TBH I find football boring, but for sports any home nation winning is better than say the Aussies winning.
I do find the national obcession for football tiresome and odd.
