GM not selling opel
« on: 01 September 2009, 14:12:27 »

Just heard on the telly that it is unlikely that GM will offload opel now it has the funds to hold on to it. I think I'm glad.....better the devil you know.

I think the astra is a great car. It does everything it's supposed to, is well built, cheap to run and looks good. They were so heavily discounted at the point of sale that you could pick one up for the price of a punto.

My meriva has been faultless as well.

got a few spare "R,s" here if you want to borrow one Steve. :y
My point is that they make competent dull cars like everyone else,no character, nothing exciting or outstanding about them.nothing to rival the big luxury makers for half the price. ;)

Astra-H is a pet hate of mine, interiors seem to fall apart quickly :(.  I guess thats what happens when you get a bit too keen on the penny pinching.

Build quality aside, its a reasonable car, and I've done a 300m fast stint driving one (when the MV6 got left in Dijon).  Bit of interior trim fell off when I hit that bloomin great crow at 160kph though...

And what would you do with the hundreds of pounds you spend in repairs each year? ::)

My little bro has one, similar problems.  Also, we use them as company cars (and everyone wants cruise ::)), so get to see a fair few of them...

Maybe they cant take that much punishment, but as a family car they are adequate.

I dont think wifey punishes the engine too much either, maybe ::)
