Nokia N96 White screen
« on: 04 November 2009, 17:54:28 »

My son has a Nokia N96, he put it on charge last night and he woke up this morning and it had just a white screen on it. Took battery out left it for a while still the same have to hold the on button for about 10 secs before anything happens, then it just goes back to the white screen.

Any ideas?

If you have a memory card, try booting up without the memory card.

Try the three finger reset, it is '*', '3' and the 'multimedia' button.

If that doesn't work then try reinstalling the firmware with Nokia Software Updater.

If that doesn't work then your only course of action is to take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point.  ;) :y

Corrupt firmware.

Dunno about Nokia, but SE have a back door that puts the handset in to "flash" mode so the firmware can be restored by the home user rather than it being sent off for repair.

Check the Nokia website to see if they ley their users do the same.
If not, off to a repair centre you go.

Will ring him and tell him to try the reset thing, will also get him to try the firmware install if that has no effect.

Thats what it does bloody need. Won't even pick the phone up on the firmware update app so looks like it's off for repair.
