Just how noisy are they then?

I find the PS3 rarely makes any noise

So whats the arguments for a PS3 againt an XBox Elite.

Never user either of them.  But have both thier predecesors.

What are the Pro's and Con's
Can they be integrated into the PC network, what advantages are there if I do.

Gran Turismo is the only thing that draws me to PS3 at this point.

But am totally open minded regards which one to purchase.

do you actually need the Elite? all it has is a bigger hard disk
Want a black one.

Is there no benefit in HD size, as I have just found one with a 250GB in it.

Never had one, never even played on one.

I have the original XBox and PS2, even a dreamcast.  But time to upgrade.
xbox360 is a noisy bugger.  Be aware, xbox live gold (for online play) is subscription.

All deals come with a Silver package, havent read details.  Plus one months Gold subscription.

Dont wanna play online anyway.

If you don't want to play online, then don't bother with the xbox, build a PC and go Media centre route.

My xbox is great for games, but as a media centre is bloody rubbish, wayyy to noisey, be better off running Windows 7 on a custom build box
Eh? he wants to play games, just not online.  Games console will always be more consistent than PC

I thought he just wanted it as a media centre?

Xbox are noise, but once the volume is turned up playing COD 4MW2 you don't notice it. But when i used the Sky Player to watch a film, you really can hear the fans on some scenes when there is not a lot going on. Then again i am very close to it...

Am happy to build a stand alone MCE, will obviuosly take advice from jamie and the rest of the forum before I do as they have the experience to give good guidance.

Am investing in a load of new gear, TV,HiFi, DVDR/HD/Freesat, Better comp etc and will cable it all together with TV and gaming in mind.  As I say I have 3 gaming consoles allready but they are old hat.

Some spare cash, and after my recent health scare I decided to spend some of it. (Cant spend it upstairs)

I bought Santa brought me a 360 Elite with the later Jasper chipset (do a google...) and its quite quiet, especially after you install the game onto the hard disc so it isn't thrashing the Cd to bits.  No probs with noise as its on the other side of the room anyway and viewable via a large SONY flatscreen thats given me absolutely no probs whatsoever....

No pockets in a shroud!   ;D

Know exactly where you are coming from....  Up my house, it drizzles with rain somedays, and others, its a downpour.  Why save for the day thats already perhaps passed?   :y

You walk this way but once, so why be sad and grumpy??   :D   :-*

So a bigger hard drive might well be an advantage then.

A console on its own is £189

The kit I looked at inclusdes.

Box Contains

    * Xbox 360 Super Elite limited edition console (black)

    * 250GB hard drive

    * 2 x Wireless Controller (black) Extra one is £30

    * Xbox Live Headset (black)

    * HDMI port

    * Composite A/V Cable

    * Xbox Live Silver membership

    * One-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold

    * 1 x Standard Edition copy of Forza Motorsport 3 Game is £40

The above package is £235

Take the £70 off for the game and controller, I save £4 and gain 130Gb of storage.

Heard the game is good and would need an extra controller.

Pretty much the deal I got but it was COD MW 2 for the game.  Been playing it for a while now with some others you may recognise.  Good bit of fun and a grand diversion....   ;)

You could buy both, a lot of people do.

As to PS3, good for media, plays BluRays, hard drive is standard, as is WiFi, some good exclusive series, such as Rachet & Clank, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, and God of War to name but 4.

Don't know too much about the Xbox360 apart from they can be noisy.

Graphics - comes down to the game, some are better on PS3, some on Xbox360.

PS3 is easier to type as well ;D ;D ;D ;D
