Iirc it was about a month before the invasion of Iraq. It was typical Nu Libore scare tactics., cynical and sinister as ever. Trying to scare the crap out of their own electorate, hoping to get them on side for their illegal war. Despicable and hateful, even by the standards of politicians. This is the sort of thing that we are used to hearing about in African dictatorships or South American banana republics.I still believe Bliar should be spending the rest of his natural in a cell, for the strokes he pulled.
Still, he does have the distinction of being the only Prime Minister in history to be interviewed under caution by the police.
God ,I hate that bloke.

thing is Albs - most of us were behind the war, only the libdems and some tree-huggers were moaning about it, nowadays it seems i'm a lone voice supporting the great "blood for oil" adventure - we need oil, you cant have a loony like saddam controlling 25% of the reserves.....whatever the lies and made up intel we used, the end justifies the means surely?

I read recently that China had bought the lions share of the oil extraction rights in Iraq. If thats true, they should have had the decency to send their army in to do the dirty deed. :-/

well I'd have put a contract out on Mugabe, but it seems most seasoned pro's need more than £50 and a tube of smarties....

frankly, he can;t die soon enough....     I had school friends who were born and bred there  (but white) who's famliy had been successfully farming it for several generations, providing employment, housing and economic stability to their local area,,..   

they're now penniless,  homeless, bereaved of several family members as a direct result,

it's one thing to read about it , and hear it on the news, it;'s another when you spent 8 years of your life at school with the victims.

Cant see it being much of a fight if it comes to it tbh. China has plenty of cannon fodder for any such eventuality.
The occasional suicide bomber there wouldnt cause the same level of shock etc. that it does in western countries.
I would imagine the retribution would  be something to be very afraid of though.

Imo, the cowardice of the other African nations - RSA in particular, has been utterly disgraceful in that situation. Can you imagine the global uproar if Mugabe had white skin ?
We would have mass protests all around the world. Concerts at Wembley, etc. etc. Funny how the usual suspects on the left of world politics have barely murmured a word on the subject.
