we are verging on needing a new mattress...

I like a nice firm one...

Had, and will buy again the Sealy posturepedic Millionaire.

Very comfy imho, and I sleep very well on it.

£300 ish for a king size.

personally cant stand this memory foam stuff, give me traditional any day (well night really)

That's what she said..

.....apparently >:(

I was sent to buy a matress last year and wifey told me not to get a rubbish one. I paid just under £200 for a common or garden sprung matress. 'That will be crap' she said, 'too cheap'
Too cheap?! £200!
After about six months, my nightly trips to the bog were accompanied by a very loud 'BOOOIIIINNNNG' which soon turned into three or four boings.
'Told you, crap' she said.

I was sent shopping for a matress this morning and told not to buy a rubbish one. The memory foam and laytex ones started at about £500 and went up to £2400!!!!
Ipaid £700 (with delivery) for a matress that will be delivered in 3-4 weeks and was still left the shop feeling that I'd bought a 'cheap' one.

I can't cope :'( :'( :'(

Are you mad?.......£200 is all you need to pay.... ;)

Which will last longer, Opti? My matress or your telly?

It arrives on Thursday..... :y

What is wrong with people?  :o :o

You spend maybe a third of your life in your bed. Spend some money and get a decent bed. Memory foam mattresses are brilliant. Say it lasts 10 years and costs a £1000 that is less than £3 a night.

£3 a night is over £10000 for 10 years ;D i guess you mean 30p a night. think it depends on peoples budgets. Wish i just had a £1000 :)

Mrs. STMO will surely be sleeping like a newborn when it arrives.......so, no danger of feeling pressured with undue 'requests', Steve.......it`s called a memory foam mattress because you wont be able to remember the last time you had any 'nocturnal fun'.;D

Several year ago (when I still had a few quid) bought an expensive bed and mattress - Milbrook royal viscount iirc - mattress has 1200 pocket springs iirc. Money very well spent, very comfy, and has been a blessing for my fragile back.
As someone once said "buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if your not in one your probably in the other" :y

Woud always strongly recommend buying the best possible mattress you can afford, our old pocket sprung was too hard and woke up feeling more tired and aching than when we went to bed, poor sleep, tossing and turning and no energy.

New memmory foam and latex mattress and we sleep like babys, are up and about earlier, get more done with far far less aches and pains.

Personally would guard against pure memory only as I find it goes a bit hard once compressed. But each to their own.

Too hard a mattress and your hips and shoulders sit too high and the spine sags in between, new mattress gives a nice straight spine with everything inline, aaaaah, nightnight.  :y
