i'm sorry but top gear is about as entertaining as watching paint dry, i get some of last years series on bbc entertainment and think wtf has that got to do with cars, the last show was build your own camper van and ofcourse jeremy's was over the top, hammond's burnt to the ground and captain slow's was rediculous, i have a great admiration for what the bbc do but this is just clutching at straws, it has very little to do with cars, personally i always found fifth gear more to do with cars than entertainment.
er, think you're missing the point mate....its got nothing to do with cars. how many of us could hop down to the local ferrari dealership and buy the latest one clarksons just spun the tread off?
its purely an enertainment show, featuring some very nice, but completly out of joe averages reach cars.
keep it coming i say, i love it :y :y :y

People who own/tow caravans should have to pay road tax for them at least as much as the car that's towing it - seems fair to me  ;)

I have never understood the mentally of what I would imagine are mostly home owners (apart from gypsies) who choose to go away at the weekend and live in a tin box with basic and cramped facilities. I can't fathom the economics of it either when you weigh up the cost of a caravan, it's maintenance and up keep and all the paraphernalia that goes with them plus the site costs - just think how many decent proper holidays you could have with the money. Additionally, you don't have an eyesore parked on your frontage for 50 weeks of the year either - I rest my case. :y

Its a fair case, caravans do take up as much room as a car if not more, can weigh considerable amount. Yet are un-taxed...

I'd vote for a green tax, as they make the towing car get crap mpg, as do the chain of cars behind them....

I love camping, but with that you just load the boot up and drive at full speed there.

I've towed a caravan before helping family members out, its not a nice experience. For me part of the journey is the drive, you can't enjoy it with a bloody big burger van acting like a parachute behind you. Typically places you go (Cumbria, Wales ect) you get stuck behind the buggers for mile upon mile  >:(

I'd like to see a bit more of this!

I recently went to darkest Wales, the only time I held traffic up was when I came up behind a tractor or lorry.

On most of the roads in Wales it's difficult to obtain 50 safely even driving solo, let alone 60.

On a bike that is easily and safely achieved. I'd also say that in a car without a caravan you safely do that too. Fact caravans are considerably wider, makes driving down narrow roads, which can easily be taken at 60, much slow for burger vans....

Braking distances are increased massively, so they have to drive slower. Ruining a good run and nice views of the road  :(

lol this thread makes me smile, i love the fight between caravaners and non-vaners!
only think i dont like, is when the caravans weaving all over the road due to the idiot towing it.
ive been looking at getting a old caravan for a laugh, i normaly end up spending a grand on a cottage in cornwall for week, so will find a dry old van get it serviced and see if its fun or too much hassle!
i would rather drive down at midnight tbh, mostly for when i get stuck in a ditch down some tiny lane pmsl

It Is funny. ESP when that poor deluded smile disapears of their face when, finally, in front of the bloody things and gently slowing down to 20 mph below their speed. Ooh that really gets their goat. All that momentum lost... YEEES ANNOYING ISNT IT!  ;D.

Funny how irritated people get when treated as they treat others I find. Hmm? :P

Tax and Mot on that pikey palace please. And a "bloody inconvenient tax" on top of that.  ;)
