Most of my sales rep and accountant neighbours have a few times

That's the main culprits according to statistics. ;) ;)

Happens more often that we think. 1 every 3-4 minutes nationwide :o :o

 :o :o :o Really that many  :-? :-? :-?

Yep :o Amazing how many people still manage to put Diesel into a petrol (considering the nozzle doesn't fit ;)) but normally the other way around due to the modern Diesel being so much more quiet and refined :y

I've never put the wrong fuel into a vehicle but then I used to drive a diesel van for a living so I'm used to swapping between different pumps.
I've spent the last six months working as a mobile mechanic and have had to pump out the wrong fuel on three different vehicles so far!

I fail to understand how, but I do know someone who has.

If people are that distracted when Fuelling, what are they like when they are driving. Scary.

if they changed the pump nozzle to square and round depending on what fuel wouldn't be a problem. quite a good idea i think. if you have an old car you buy an adapter to slot on pump

3 different cars & each has different fuel. Diesel Astra, 95 Ron in the Omega & 98 Ron in her Smart, never been tempted to put the wrong fuel in any of them.  :y

Not done it myself.... but did have the wrong fuel put in once ......  12000 ltrs of AVGAS (Aviation Gasolene)  that should have been AVTUR (Aviation Turbine Fuel).... now that took some sorting out ...  and it wasn't even a nice place to be stuck in ... :(

Some very embarrassed ground crew on that one...

So what's AVTUR like then? The only turbines I've ever worked on had super heated steam (550psi 850oF) going through them.
