I'm tempted to pick up a cambelt kit as well .. but I'm mindful of the amount of work we have on for the day and being able to get through everyone's cars..

If it's due, pick one up. It's not too bad a job ;)

It's not due*, but I have a strange swhooshing bearing-on-it's-way-out noise that I can't localise (or haven't, yet) to the accessory belt .. and the last thing I want is the cambelt idler or tensioner to die and eat the engine :)

*not due according to the service history ticked in pen in the book.. which I trust about as much as I trust politicians  :-X

TBH, I would suggest that people wanting cambelts strip down ready for the belt themselves, then if not confident someone who is can help out :y

The same with other jobs TBH... I'm not really fit to do any major spannering but am willing to wander between cars and advise people if they need it (in between flipping burgers ::)) :y

What do others think?

Best pick one up... I assume you're OK with spanners?

Yep ;) I have no fear of doing the job myself.. it's just much more fun with other people around to hear me swear when I drop spanners into the engine bay ;D

And it can't be as hard as the Nissan - you don't even get a locking kit for that so you have to time it all up manually and try & hold four cams still on your own. Turns out cam pulleys are sharp and eat into your arms quite well .. who knew? ;D

To be honest I was more thinking about the folks who might not be so handy with spanners and might need assistance from those of us who are - wouldn't want to deprive them of the chance of getting jobs done because I was spending all the time doing my own stuff :)

Chrisgixer.         dif and ATF change.
Entwood ...        ATF change & Tech2 check of gearbox software
Lazydocker...      Oil and filter change, fuel filter, clean ICV, repair wiring to Outside Temp Sensor and (most importantly!) sort sticking handbrake.
TheBoy...           CamCover gaskets (MV6)
Sethsmate ...     Tech2 chat
Jack86...           ATF change and oil and filter, glove box handle and fitting my HID's.
Twiglet...           ATF and Diff oil change, move pre-cat lamdas, resolve mis-fire issue (coil-packs/cam cover gaskets), Tech2 chat.
Taxi Al...             Cambelt, waterpump, breathers, cruise activation. general service bits if time
aaronjb...           Camcover gasket on pass. side & tech2 w/ g/box check/upgrade pretty please
Kieran ....           Cam cover gaskets 2.6, Thermostat housing seal also
Shakeng....         Front/rear bush check(may as well do the rears?)
Kevin Wood...      Dif seal, Relocate Lambda sensors / try "anti-fouler" solution.
P6UL 6...             Cambelt, Water Pump, Aux Belt, Tech2 check/Cruise activation
Gives
ATF change x4
dif related x3
Lambda related x2.

Cam cover seals x3
Cam belt/water pump x2(only 2?)
Stat housing x1
Handbrake x1
and a bunch of easy service stuff
Tech2 for most I guess? Guess there will be two present?

So, we have one lift and two pits as I understand it? I reckon they should cover the dif ATF and lambda jobs in a day. ATF should be doable in an hour with proper access and pumpy thing.( two gaskets, ATF and clean the filter). The rest there should be time for in other bays at ground level....?  ESP with a Daz bombing round the place.  :y

No suspension stuff so far.  :) Check over, Shakeng, LD

Don't worry about that... There'll be plenty of help/assistance. As I said, I'm not going to do too much myself but will happily sit on someone's shoulder if they want some moral support... Then people learn how to do the things they're scared of :y :y

Going by those attending, about 4 potentially. Hence my surprise only 2 need cam belts doing at the "cam belt party". It's more of an ATF party ATM.  :)
