Now, who's got a driveway near Northampton on which you could dump a project car?  ::) :-X

Kevin

Nobody that's got any space, I'm afraid! Apart from possibly Tunnie, who's not likely to be about much.

This is not a long job though - pop both manifolds off... top cambelt cover and belt off top pulleys.. and you're almost there on this one!

For the cost of a set of bolts fit new because if one snaps on refit...........it bloody hurts!

Plus is it worth the risk if your at the side of the road doing the job!

Good man Mark :y

I've just had this reply from the seller to my questions:

It is leaking water from the side of the head

Tires look nearly brand new

No exaust blowing and no steering pull. Brakes are fine.

The interior is fine, no rips or tears. There bit in the passenger footwell under the glove box is a bit loose, but im sure you can put it back with no problems

there are no other problems with the running of the car apart from the battery is dead, but i can charge that up for you before you pick the car up if you win.

There is a slight dent on the near side front wing which is new, we only noticed it yesterday, it looks like its been hit hard with a ball or summin

I'm gonna even see if it will limp away, if there is no pressuring of coolant, and no cross-contamination.

Going to offer him £100 now... might get this one in the bag here...

Doesn't sound too bad, then. A mate of mine had one that started leaking water, from the offside front of the head gasket, behind the alternator, IIRC.

Might be tempting to try and seal the leak with something and limp it home to do the job properly.

Add half a dozen eggs and a couple of gallons of petrol to the budget  ;D

He just came back as wanting £200.

My reply:

Hi mate, given the dent in the wing, and paintwork required at the back and the new head gasket set / bolts needed, I'm afraid I couldn't stretch to any more than £100. If you'd like a fast cash sale, would you consider this offer? Cheers

We'll see... I'm sticking to my guns though.. it's only worth £200 without the dent and scratch...

OK, he wants £180.

Not dealing at that price... too much. Guess I'll just watch the bidding.... I've got a feeling I may still get it for a price I want?

Yep. Let him sweat a little. If he gets no interest he may come crawling back rather than face having it sitting outside his house.

Kevin

That paint will put a LOT of bidders off.. but I reckon I could fix that myself (have access to a compressor / sprayer etc) if needsbe. I won't get it perfect, but I could significantly improve it.

I don't think he's going to get many bids (may be wrong) but I still think I could get it the right side of £120...

James, as long as you can repair quickly (ie, not days and days - dont want to piss the neighbours off), you can use my driveway. I'm 20 miles from Northampton.

I can probably provide a bed for the night as well for you all....

Oooo... 20 miles is more appealing than driving it to Cheltenham / Cardiff with a blowing HG! I'll bear that in mind mate, if I get it for the price I want :)
