Broken car
« on: 02 March 2010, 09:50:56 »

Managed to break the Westfield on the way in this morning. :'(

Bit of an icy puddle in the road. Thought "that looks slippery" so took it very slow. Back end stepped out a little, bit of opposite lock, bit more, full opposite lock. Absolutely no friction between tyre and road. A slow motion 540 degree spin ensued with the nosecone and front wheel unfortunately contacting the bank at the side of the road on the way round.

Nose cone mountings have sheared off, Not so worried about that as Mrs. KW had an "off " a couple of years back and knackered the nosecone so good excuse to replace that and do the job properly.

Steering is a bit wonky so something has bent. Hoping it's not the chassis.  :-/ Doesn't look to be. From the way it hit most likely a track rod with luck.

Bu66er!

But at least YOU are ok.... and the Westfield is fixable ...if something had been coming the other way could have been very different .. :(

Yep, I am grateful to be OK and that the car looks lik it will mend.

From the driver's seat it looked a lot worse. Just so annoying that I saw the hazard but wasn't quite careful enough. Oh, well, a(nother) lesson learnt.

Oh Kevin... You just aren't having any luck this week :( :( :(

But... At least you're OK. Fixing the Westfield up again will be a nice little project ::) Assuming the silver lump gets going again soon :-X ::)

True. And I wonder if it's an excuse to upgrade a few items? ::)

Hmm.

I hope to return the "silver lump" to "silver bullet" status tonight.

Hope so... I suppose then it's just the hassle of sorting through the loom ::) ::) Actually... If it proven to be the loom it would be worth letting Teilo know. He'll be horrified! I still reckon the markers may have been swapped on the injector loom

Very relieved you weren`t hurt (or worse), Kevin.

Give the old-girl a nose-job, some undercarriage fettling and she`ll be ready for anything! ::)
.......and then you can repair the car. ;D
