Potential good source, new V6 Catalytic Converters
« on: 24 May 2010, 23:00:39 »

Please bear with me on this one...

Now, I remember the days when the forum opinion was "Geniune GM exhausts are the only way to go"..

A while later, I found eternalcar made an excellent pattern system - and this is seen as the most realistic replacement, now.

Well what about Cats?

I know out of all the pattern cats I have seen, most of them sound nasty,  and appear to be of poor quality.

As some may know, my newly aquired Elite had awful misfire issues, and as such, I NEEDED two new cats.

Didn't want to get second hand (who knows if they've been through similar things) - but also couldn't afford new VX prices.

Was trawling eBay, and came across TWO V6 cats, brand new, sold as a pair, for £120. The chap had bought them for his Elite, but never used them. Still in the wrapping.

Make was unknown - however the pics looked almost like genuine cats.

They arrived today, and I had a good look.

They are not GM - they are a pattern brand, BUT they don't look like the usual pattern rubbish. They are identical in appearance to the GM Cats, seem to be exceptionally well made, out of thick metal, etc...

Don't hold your breath, but - as we did with exhausts - I reckon I may have found a good alternative brand with new Cats too.

I will be the guinea pig, and will post up a review once I have them fitted (coupled to a nice new eternalcar exhaust!!)

A company called... errm... cats2go (I think) seem to do reasonable quality items. Well, they were OK for the Sister in Laws car and well priced too :y

The prices on here look nice and cheap compared to main stealer prices and as Tapper888 says new legislation means they should conform to EU standards as swell  :y

http://www.cats2go.co.uk/Default.aspx?PageID=11

It also says next day delivery if ordered before 3 pm

Internals will be shite......guaranteed.

The genuine ones have very substantial internals and hence why they last well (and command a good price even in scrap).
