emptied all the camping gear out of the VW panel so I can sell it, how much stuff is needed just for basics. Cooker, set of pans, plates, bowls ,cutlery for 4, tray, bucket, bowl and lots of other bits!! All sat in my garage at home now, will be okay if we have a power cut!

Not mine but my sister-in-laws Mercedes SLK. She phoned to say it had thrown the fan, auxiliary, serpentine belt, or whatever they’re called these days. It had a new water pump fitted by an Indy less than 80 miles ago so I suspected an out of line pulley, but on inspection the tensioner pulley bearing was totally shot. It was the worst I've ever seen and threw sparks out of the bearing.  ;D
Fitted a new tensioner and it’s all good again.  :y

And that about sums it up with us and our Omega's.   Love, and money, has no limits when it comes to these cars. ;D ;D ;D

Yet again the other day a chap got into a conservation with me about my Omega and how he used to have one, wishing he still did, as they are "real cars".
I have lost count how many times this has happened .  Trouble is I know they are not chatting me up, their love is always going to be for the Omega!!  ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

Main system battery on the proper car had stopped taking a charge. Alternator happily throwing out 14.3v but key off and out and it drops below 10v before you can say ouch.

It was a Bosch S3 013 purchased about 18 months ago. Took it back to the place I got it from and had them test it...

At the point of test it was showing 11.4v but only 163 CCA, rated at 700 iirc and suggested good but requires charging. I've been driving it since the gearbox was replaced so it's had some decent runs to top it up.

Anyhoo, they replaced it 'as a goodwill gesture' free of charge with an Bosch S4 013. The only catch being that the warranty only lasts until the end of the original 3 year one.

Credit to the Mercedes engineers, the starter battery literally does nothing but start the car, so once I have managed to get in, it always fires on the first turn of the key, and once it's running everything comes back to life. That was a common occurrence when it sat for a week or two at a time, but I had hoped that using it regularly would solve the issue ;D

Hoping the slightly beefier battery and regular use will solve the problem, as it's a nuisance having to clear low voltage codes from 45 modules.

To be fair you’re lucky to get them to give you a new one considering the hoops they will jump through to avoid coughing up👍

I think it's fairly common for the original warranty to stand.
