Used the BMW as my office on WFH days. Last Wednesday in particular, I gave up at 10:30, it was to hot. MrsT said I had to be home due to school clubs/runs, it makes things easier if she can drop off the youngest while she does other mummy bus taxi duties.

Set the A/C on, gave it 10 mins to cool the car down and went out to a nice cool office. Set to 19c, passenger seat all the way forwards, sat in the back, coffee in the arm rest, music on. Was a very nice place to work!  ;D

Used about 10% of the battery just sat there from ~10:40 to 16:00 when I'm forced out for Dad related duties.

Yup, both SWMBO and I were sat in the back of ours, there's even an AC socket to power the laptop - bliss!

I drew the line at sleeping in it though  :D

The AC in TPC is ice cold, but I've noticed that it's just started cycling the compressor in and out which makes me think it possibly needs a top up... :-\

Is that normal behaviour if the climate thinks it doesn't need chilled air for a short period?

Our V70 does that cycling thing, apparently it's normal on a V70.... Probably one of the many Ford parts that got shoehorned into an otherwise perfectly OK vehicle..... Don't get me started on the Ford gearbox.

Certainly the soviet VAG in Kefalonia was cycling the compressor every few minutes.

I think mine has some kind of PWM controlled refrigerant pressure valve in the compressor that achieves the same thing without being so barbaric with snatching the compressor clutch in and out, but think mines a little newer than yours?

Ah Kefalonia. Have very fond memories of the place as it was our first foreign holiday about 35 years ago.
I hope it hasnt been ruined by more and more tourism over the years.

Omega - topped up the diff oil. It took about 350ml, so it needed it.
Had about the same amount of ATF which I put into the autobox, but it needs some more, so will have to revisit that.
Tried to bend the handbrake cable retainers back into shape, as the cable had slipped through both, and was partially successful.
Will have to remove the rear wheels at some point to do a proper job on that though.

I'd imagine it's unrecognisable from 35 years ago.  ::)

Can't comment on what it was like 35yrs ago, and clearly tourism is going to be one of the main economies there, but its not built up like many Mediterranean islands, although the capital has a couple of long streets dedicated to selling tourist tat, and was fairly busy would those deranged coming ashore from their floating hotels.

The bottom end, like Skala, to quote a mate's missus who went there last year, is like Blackpool (I thought that was a bit harsh, it was busy, and mostly a certain kind of Brit), and the famous beaches were incredibly busy.  Fiskado at the top looks like it hasn't expanded, and felt cramped, but wouldn't mind betting that's always been the case, just the posh boats are getting bigger ;D. Asos much the same really.

We stayed near Sami, and ignoring the road and restaurants on the road along the sea front, you'd think there was no such thing as tourism.

I'd definitely go back, despite feeling that we had seen everything we wanted to see.

Now, Santorini, where I was in May, that is 100% tourism. Rammed full of them.  It wasn't, in my opinion, the pretty Greek island with whitehoused buildings with blue shutters that I had envisaged it to be.  No massive resorts with huge hotels, so can only assume its the 3 or 4 floating hotels dumping their guests every day that ruins the place.

As everyone knows, I go to Cyprus every year normally.  Nowadays, it's at the Paphos end, as the Brits totally ruined the once lovely Ayia Napa area, with knickerless girls passing out in the main square every night and their short skirts showing off everything, couples with young lads not being able to hold their drink, so fighting and chundering everywhere.

Coral Bay is normally where we go, and in 20 years of doing so, the once outlying areas have just had thousands of villas built, so thats a massive change in a relatively short time period.

Strangely, despite the huge increase in villa numbers, thus presumably visitors, the main strip (Coral Bay's centre is essentially a single road, probably about 300m long) is quiter and less* resturants and bars than it used to have....    ...part of the reason of asking those questions last week about who goes out to eat when in self catering accomodation.

*And a lot of those remaining are turning away from Greek Taverna type cuisine into the likes of KFC and Pizza Hut

Only been to Cyprus the once, and rather liked the place (NOT Ayia Napa I should add).

They also currently charge a flat 5% on pension income (regardless of value), so I can definitely foresee at least a portion of my retirement years being spent there.  :)

It does seem popular with older people who no longer need to work.

As its EU - ignoring the Turkish bit which nobody other than Turkey recognises - you might have to become a citizen, and generally the EU are tightening those rules, so you might need to do a fair amount of planning once your get close to retiring :y
