Cleaned the gearbox electrical switch, fiddly job, but fortunately fixed the problem.

Then jacked up the Avenger and started on the brake upgrade; have one side ready to refit once I've had the (Capri vented) discs redrilled to fit the hubs.
Also noticed just how bad the 'MOT' repair on the O/S inner wing is; Tuesday I'll repair it properly.

Rotated the tyres front to back and noted the paper-thin brake pad friction material on the front. ::)

Rear bushes changed on Thursday as something at back has been clonking.

Typically, the clonking is intermittent and still there  >:(
Re organised all the crap in the cubby holes and wrapped the jack in a towel.
typically, the clonking.....

Fiddlesticks.

Friday night had to stop using the car as at no1 injector decided it would be better to fill the v with fuel rather than inject it in to the cylinder (what like it's supposed to) >:(  so...
Spent Saturday driving to Heathrow and back to collect a replacement inlet manifold/fuel rail.
Cheers Steve :y  Half hour later, all back together, fired up and all working with no leaks.

New inlet assembly still not solved other issue though. >:( Not sure if that is good or bad as it has ruled out the injectors and some of the loom. :-/

clonking could be rear droplinks?

Be surprised. They are very different to the front. Big rubber washers that just push in. Rather than a ball joint.

Roll bar bushes
Subframe to chassis bushes behind the dif
Top/bottom shock mounts
Buggered exhaust or missing hangers
Loose spare
Incorrect shocks
Buggered control arms     ....?

Don't think it's 1,2,3 or 7 as its not every bump/pothole/catseye.
6 can be ruled out. Gen VX self levellers fitted new 18 months ago. s/l all working as it should. (thanks for the cheat in the subframe bush guide btw :y, alot easier that jacking the car up.)
5 well and truly screwed down and jack wrapped in a towel, though that did bang a bit.
leaves 4 and gearbox mount. :-/ there is enough play on the exhaust to bang it if you really try ::) will get back under it tomorrow...

Took the door handles off the breaker - cant be 4rsed removing doors and bonnet. Cleared the drive, ready for it to be collected by scrappy tomorrow. That was enough in this heat - seriously wilted in the heat after half an hour of exertion.

BTW Albs, I couldn't use the parking sensors off that so if you wanted to make a kit out of them and the ECU....

They're three pin and mine are 4 pin.  Diameter is smaller too, so I've opened out the holes in the bumper to take my existing ones and will have to source one new(?) one.

Are you going to replace the friction material with proper braking material, or stick you your favoured lumps of old oak :P

Took mine to work today for the first time in yonks.  Felt good to be getting quietly wafted along, rather than diesel rattled in the Landy!   ;D
