if it has the same ride height as Rusty, then the relative geo ride height is even lower, as the 18's have a slightly bigger diameter.
Which will exaggerate wheel arch rubbing issues. Which you seem to suffer more with?
Those struts had more miles on them when they came to you, than mine had when I changed top mounts. While my new ones are Pedders, so not directly comparable, the old ones where well compressed going by the shape of the Pedders ones.
Add in older springs, and shocks....
