Well as virtually every other motorway from here is having a concrete central barrier built and the average speed cameras mean setting the cruise is about the safest thing to do, the round trip barely saw me hit 70... Unlike the BMW on the opposite carriageway who decided to hit stationary traffic at about 70 (one less 3 series  :y)
As a yocal, whats the best way for me to get from Coventry (Jag Engineering Centre, on the Stratford edge, on the A46) to the M5 on a Friday, late morning.
Whereabouts on the M5?

You could go A46 to Longbridge Island then take the M40 N/B and M42 S/B to M5

If you want to go lower down the M5 you could go A46 all the way to Alcester then A422 (there are other shorter ways but you are on country lanes) virtually to J6 (Sixways Island) M5

TBH late morning should see you fine on the first route. The Morning problem is M5 roadworks between J4 and J5 (just been cut back from J6) and M42 N/B (which wont affect you).

If you want to go to the top end of the M5 you could just go A45 Cov Road all the way to the M42 (Motorcycle museum / airport junction) and then go N/B M42, M6 N and M5 S (assuming you can put up with the constant thumping of the pitch joints on the elevated section of the M6).

All depends on where you want to be on the M5 really.

I've had over 500 miles from a tank before on my first Mv6 I had - that was south coast to west Wales and back

I just spent an hour and a half polishing up the headlights alone. No longer look like nicotine stained fingers and I may be able to see at night. That's one job less, still have a host of jobs. :)

Yeah, Newent, as another post says :), picking Mrs TB up from work on way.

Is it quicker to just go back down A46 towards Stratford, M40, M42, M5 south, or A45 up towards NEC way, M42, M5 south?

You have the superior 3.0l, and I'm sure with latest gearbox software. Therefore, S isn't really as critical as with the 3.2s

Yes it does seem to be more responsive since the software input , much to the annoyance of Bmw&Merc drivers  :D ;D

My recent omega ...had it 3 months had a receipt for front discs and pads fitted 12 months ago..they showed very little wear at all...but i had an awful wheel vibration at 50 mph and realy bad shuddering  that came up through the car when braking which made the car blinking awful to drive....So today i  took a chance and purchased  new front discs and pads and fitted them...on inspecting the old ones the offside one had a high point on the inside near the centre of the disc....On completing the job today of fitting new discs and pads the car now drives perfectly and all wobble and vibration has gone.......Just goes to show what a very slightly disc will do to your car...very happy now  :D :D :y

Finally removed all the detritus from the car... needs a quick polish to finish it off, and it still has stains evident in the paint, but it looks alot better for todays six hours effort 8)
