problem with test

I had my car tested and it failed on emitions, iv had a new cat on it and they say it could be alambra center whats this, could i do it on my own?

Lambda Sensor or 02 sensor. Garage should be able to check the operation of this before changing it.

Tee chragng me £147 for the priverlage would i be better doing it myself or isit a git to do?

It's an easy DIY job, except that they can take some persuasion to come out of the exhaust some times. I'm guessing you could pick the sensor up for 60-80 quid although I've never bought an Omega one.

Make sure you know which one's at fault first.

Damn. Keep doing that! It's a 2 litre so only 1 sensor unlike the V6.

also, check air filter is clean (renew it anyway), give the engine a full serivce, plugs, oil filter, fuel filter, all for good measure

Clean out the throttle body and idle valve, especially the underside, and the entire breather system.

Check for fault codes.

Also - can you post up the exact emisions figures listed on the failure sheet / report. Looking for HC and CO.
