i use vx semi for tractor, replaced every 3k.

That is of course excluding the times when it didn't like the taste and threw the lot out of oil pump, sump, and dipstick tube

I use Castrol Magnatec 10W - 40 on the advice from my local Vx Dealer.

I got a very good "one off" promotional deal via Halfords - 20-lts for £50.00 (Jan 2008)    

Should I change to Vx 10W-40?

I agree. Castrol makes a good flush.

Sadly, it would appear, Castrol shows what marketing can do....

ok peeps when i changed my oil yesterday today when i checked the level there was a bit of mayo on the inside of the lid is this normal or is there something sinister going on can someone tell me?

To be honest, Castrol seems very prone to mayo build up due to condensation which is the biggest problem with it.

If buying Vx oil, get a trade card or borrow one!

of course you could always pretend it's castrol by pouring vx 10w40 into your engine at the same time as wearing a castrol gtx tan bomber jacket. it worked for alan patridge:

I'm calling to arrange delivery of a Castrol GTX bomber jacket in tan. Certainly, it's four hundred London Road, Linton. That's the Linton Travel Tavern. Right at the Esso garage on the A12, yeah. Don't go left, you'll end up in Mike Oldfield's estate. If he thinks you're a poacher he'll shoot you.

Just checked my invoice and indeed its Mobil Super M 10W/40.  I dared to challenge the knowledge of Marks DTM and lost, unsurprisingly....

Which is a cheap multigrade oil.....
