....in addition to my earlier post I would add.... check the condition of oil and the 'purity' of the exhaust after full running i.e. any excessive water content, oil deposits / smoke.  Dependant on year, 73K could have been accumulated by many short journeys so creating potential problems with excessive acids / water in engine / exhaust.  :y

In addition with estates my extensive experience with these has found that the rear shocks (although heavy duty types) can wear far faster than those up front if used regularly for carrying heavy loads (heavily scratched rear panels can indicate if this is the case) .  Therefore worth checking the 'bounce' factor of these by pushing down the rear corners of the car.  :y

I thought you had a far better way of testing the "bounce" factor of an Estate, Lizzy ;)   ::)

Its a 2001... £3600 with years mot and 6 months tax thrown in ....does have sevice history although he says its not all vauxhall.... last service was at 69'000

Mark

Sounds a good motor but I would question the £3,600 price....I have recently bought a 2000 2.5V6 CDX auto saloon from a dealer with full dealer service history, new brakes, exhaust, tyres, and immaculate.  All right it had 104k on the clock, but I paid just £2,000.  I reckon you could knock the £3,600 down considerably, or walk away and find another fine example as mentioned by others for a lot less. :y :y

Once again all the best for whatever you decide to do! :y

Remember pre or post Mar 2001 will mean a 200 quid a year DIFFERENCE in road tax from next year.

Ive checked the web and this will be in the £400 bracket .... perhaps i should look for a diesel .. they come in the £200 bracket  :-/

I wasn't talking about test driving you, I was talking about means of testing suspension components...

Ps - I'm probably the youngest regular (or at least I was, till I got old!) - and I'm corrupt already !

Im going for a look at and test drive of an OMEGA 2.2 16V CDX ESTATE with 73'000 miles on it this weekend from a showroom ... is there any thing i should look out for on this model ie noises or anything i should pay paticular attention to...sorry if there has been a review on a separate page but i couldnt find anything

Thanks

Well that was a waste of time ... car looked great in the photos... but in the flesh was a different matter .... they knew i was coming to look at it so i was suprised when the battery was tottally flat ....once it started the airbag light on the dash was on as well as the engine light and the battery light was flashing away ...i would have thought that if they knew i was coming they might have charged her up at least ....the guy said that was only because the battery was flat ???? :o  or is that the case ??   he seemed to like the radio though ... thats all he talked about .... so i walked away .. :-/
