Cost me £145 one year ago at main dealers but took them a week to diagnose(Their diagnostic was to just keep car untill it would'nt start one day) Crank sensor went again 2 weeks ago. Did a paperclip test and code 19 came up. Did it myself this time wih guide on this forum, not a bad job at all if you remove the wipers and scuttle cover. Took a couple of hours in the dark on driveway to change. Re-routed away from exhaust and oilpipes. So  Keeping fingers crossed now as this is the third sensor. Noticed oil leaking down the back of engine near sensor so guess cam cover gaskets need doing. Had them done by garage about 18 months ago but no ideal if breathers were cleaned Am going to do it myself this time.
James the Glos mobile mechanic has just done Timing belt for me. Can thoroughly recommend him. He is first class on these cars.

You didn't change it from underneath with the car jacked up? :o :o

As it is under/to the side of the oil filter I find it easier to approach from underneath, but there again any excuss for me to crawl underneath my car........... ::) ::) ::) ;)

I must admit I prefer it with the front jacked up and approach it from under-neath.  ;)

Have to admit i had it jacked up as well. And i wasn't sure i could get at the the connector at the back of engine without scuttle cover off, as it looked pretty tight in there to me. You live and learn don't you. :)
