Not knowing the full story , but why cant you start and run the engine :y

It's not that i can't start the engine, it's that i haven't turned the engine over for a few months and didn't want to start it until I'd turned the engine over a few times to get some oil circulated around but doing so without pumping petrol into the cats which is not good for them :).

I would have thought the quickest & best way to get the oil circulating would actually be to start the car (on tickover ovbiously) turning it over with the starter motor with the plugs in will barley get the oil pressure over 7lbs to turn the oil light out and would doubht the cams would see any oil at all at that speed  :-/

I did pull the fuel pump fuse as suggested and turned it over about ten times, replaced fuse and it started 1st turn of the key with no rattles so accomplished what i wanted, so happy :y.

Sorry if you think i took what you said the wrong way :-[ as it seems you know more about the internal operations of an engine than i do, was just saying that i was happy with how it turned out doing it the way that was suggested to me because I'd already done it before your comment was read by me tonight :y.
