Well maybe so, maybe wrong but i'd say that 2.2 will drink as much if not more that a v6 will.
I think your mrs is looking forwards not backwards.
and the fact she wants to bumb around in a v6  ;D ;D

Not 100% sure on consumption figures, but feel the old V6 is not to bad on fuel but having only driven the 2.2 for a short time i'm really unsure :y

How hard is it? It's not the doing it to be honest it's the fact I have to get it 90 odd miles and the people I thought had a trailer hired it  :'(

Its an auto? - If so pop the prop shaft off and tow it.

James did father tunnies 2.2 head gasket, and tbh after seeing it being done, when mine goes i will pick up the spanners myself  8-)

Its a manual Tunnie

Del i also have a 2001 Y Reg 2.5 V6 CDX Manual also as you know with a oil cooler issue

Means towing 90 odd miles though and don't fancy that  :-/

Hmmm, know a place at £30 an hour, they're quick though did an engine change in a merc e class in 2 hours  :-/

possible, is lot more screw  in HG job so is round 4-5h at garage
I done in vectra few month ago in 5h 2.0 16v

It's a job I can do well, but not a job I Can do quickly....

I would urge you to have a go yourself

I the HG kit and stem seal change on the Ashtray cost me £40 incl bolts, all gaskets, etc

I'll do it with you if you like Del. ;) ;)

Just get the materials we need and we will soon have the head off, replace HG and put the thing back together.  On a 4-pot it is never a big job. :y :y :y
