If I was you I would just whack it in and give it a shot. The first chip I got from Terry was the wrong one - when I put it in the ECU the car was idling at 2500rpm!

Got hold of a new on and shoved it in - worked a treat.  :y

What the chuff is a "ESD wrist strap" anyway?  :-/

electrostatic discharge

providing you, the bench and the electronics are all connected (to earth) then it reduces any chance of static damage to the electronics  :y

ESD is a fairly serious issue for most electronics (Damage will USUALLY always be caused if protection not taken), though the stuff used in Omega ECUs is pretty robust.

Always worth having a wrist strap around, as it significantly reduces change of damage, and you never know when you'll need one, eg taking sides off computers etc

Chip now installed. :y

It's a changed car, so much more nifty around town and on the open roads the fuel consumption is pretty impressive @ approx 56mph for 20 miles or so of driving.

Up from 31.2MPG to 40.4MPG! :D

Dont believe the mpg on a chipped tractor - it will now over estimate mpg.  It will improve mpg though

Oh yeah, I'll not take it as gospal. Just for the drivability alone it's well worth the time taken to do. Even if a tank lasts me about 500 miles instead of the 450 then happy days as far as I'm concerned. :)
