Sun Roof Fuse, But No Sun Roof.
« on: 15 November 2009, 19:36:24 »

Hi, a little starange this one. According to my handbook, number 25 in the fuse box is for a sun roof (5 amp) but i have no sunroof? There is a 20 amp in there at the mo. Going by the handbook all the other points in the box that should be blank for my car are (plastic prongs), but point 25 does have metal prongs in which to fit a fuse. Weird?? :-/

Its to make life easy for the guys in the factory. You will find that the sunroof wiring is all there in the roof all neatly tucked away near to the interior light. I found this when I changed mine recently.

This isn't a Vx only thing, I was working o SWMBOs Focus and Ford have done exactly the same thing! ;)

According to my book, fuse 25, for the sunroof is a 20A. Can someone confirm if this is different in 2.6 migs?  :-/

Is your car ex-police, by any chance?  Most Police spec cars were 3.0 or 3.2 but not unknown for a 2.6 to sneak into the mix....

They could easily be specced without a sunroof (think most were) and the sunroof fusing could have been used by radio technicians or lighting techs as a means to operate additional kit?

The circuit will have probably been used for some auxiliary kit - radio, tracker display, vascar, whatever - so check if its live first before playing.

When cars are decommissioned by police/MOD normally the techs are not too fussy about how they remove the head units and simply crop the circuit with side cutters.....  not always, you understand, just most of the time!   ;D
