Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for a strpped drain plug?  The oil change place stripped it and it looks like they tried to fix it with a grommet of sorts.  It has a tiny leak now.  Anyway, are there any good fix kits?

A helicoil is the best bet.
or you can drill and tap it out to a larger size and use a bigger sump plug.

'magic' socket on it would remove it, of course you would need to get a replacement first as the old one would be damaged.

Yep, helicoil fix.

Or replace the lower sump pan (secnd hand part?)

As above the first thing I would do is complain....a lot

I would say the best and most reliable way would be to drill and tap. Make sure you have a plug to fit the thread you tap first though. At worst (because you know all the sizes) you could even use a dye set and make a plug that fits perfectly - once its done you wouldn't even know it had ever happened

I had the same problem once...but my mechanic fixed it good and proper.

He took the sump off and welded a nut to the inside, obviously to take the sump plug.

Worked a treat...quick and cheap and far lasting.

as above take it back and let them sort it but then if they knacked it once would you trust them to fix it right :-/

Thanks for all the suggestions!  I'll take it back to them and see what they'll do for me.  Now I have some options in mind on how they can fix me up .

totally agre with helicoil suggestions above. Had one done on a previous car, took five minutes and lasted 3 years until I sold the car. Only thing I did find was best to put something like copperease grease on the plug thread to ease removal and help prevent the helicoil moving.
