Maf Sensor
« on: 12 May 2010, 16:54:18 »

Can the Maf sensor be taken out of the plasic housing it does have security screws the reason being if i let the car idle for more than 5 mins it starts to get lumpy tickover garage said it was a maf problem and probably needs cleaning with switch cleaner on the electrode wire he went on to say people change them when all it wants is a spray of switch cleaner
TIA

I think you can see the wire by removing the MAF a s a whole unit.

I've never had any luck cleaning MAFs. :-/

.. and I would have thought switch cleaner would not be the best product to use, as it leaves an oily residue.

Does the car idle better if the MAF is disconnected completely?

Any fault codes?
