Changed the stat  and a 100% positive that its not leaking but im loosing coolant if I use the heating. But if I freeze my nuts off and dont use the heater I dont loose anything.... so am I right in thinking its the HBV ???

This was exactly what mine did when HBV went on it. I set the heater temp to low just to get me home. If I turned the heater up the water gushed out.  :y :y

I definately didn't have aircon on to stop it leaking. It was minus 4 outside when mine went and nearly minus 4 inside without the aircon being on. I turned heater to low setting to reduce water loss. :y

don't understand the logic there - nothing happens to the HBV until yu turn the heating right down both sides AND turn on hte aircon. But even then the heater is still filled with coolant at 15psi or so.

Found this out by accident on my previous Omega V6. Used the car on a summers day and all was fine. It got chilly at night so the heater went up and water gushed out. Next day the sun was out so heater was set low. Very little water loss. Evening came, heater went up and water gushed out so it had to be heater related. Setting to low temp may slow down water loss until it goes completely but it does sometimes give you a fighting chance of getting the car home. :y
