If my calculations are correct 22mpg is around 12,89 litres per 100 km so I definitely wouldn't call this a go fugure Boditza. This is way too much for a diesel in any case.
Just to stress once more(if my calculations are correct).

apparently my convertor was wrong... 10.5 l/100km is my consumption and acording to this site http://www.convertworld.com/en/fuel-consumption/Liters+per+100+km.html  is 26.9mpg and outside the city my consumption is 7l/100km wich is 40mpg so aparently its normal for this car

That's better!
Should be easy enough to get your display to show mpg if you take a look in the Users Manual if you want a second check.

i have cid so its easy enough, but right now my car is in service because i had a minor accident so i won't be able to do that. all i can say that in the last 3000km(1864 miles) since i reset my bc my average fuel consumption is 8.3l/100km ~ 34MPG and i say that is ok considering the weight of the car, not to mention the comfort it offers

40mpg is a bit crap if its accurate, when on petrol my 2.2 petrol would easily average 33mpg!

So assuming its £1.20 per L, thats 13p a mile!

Your better off with a petrol and LPG as mine costs me 10.5p per mile

but that wasn't the question . He might like a decent mpg AND the ability to carry soemthing proper in his boot - or use the through boot option.

scuse my ignorance but whats a maf.ive got a 2.2 now and i'm very dissapointed in it ,like a fool i thought it would be more economical than my beloved 2.5 r.i.p darlin,but it dont get nowhere near it on any comparison,power ,mpg ,towing ,starting just about anything.

I thought the same when i bought the 2.2dti estate!! luckily i bought it while in uk to use and the old 2.5 was in spain, was going to drive it out and let the old girl rest here, after a thousand miles in the 2.2 realised it just was not as good as the 2.5 in anyway shape or form, left it in england and sold it!!
still got the 2.5 estate!!!

I've got a feeling the CAT may be breaking up on the Estate and causing some restriction, the DTi Saloon I have is far more lively and has 10K more on it 

When I find a suitable piece of pipe I will prove / disprove this theory....!

The Estate towed the Caravan back from Newquay last week and was consistent with when we took it down in the Easter break, just over half a tank for 270 Miles. I thought that was very acceptable

i`m getting about 39mpg out of my 2.2 dti omega, thats about half and half m/way and rush hour traffic, if cruise at 70mph i get high 40s, i had a 2.2dti vectra and that was very good on fuel and alot faster, was easly getting 43mpg with the same style driving i`m doing now but the vectra was lighter and that must of made a big difference but i did except better from the omega. gear ratios and front wheel drive probably play a part as well.
i had a 3L elite as my 1st miggy and what a fantastic car that was, i cudnt make my mind up between a lpg V6 or a dti but the  previous vectra made my mind up but wish i would of gone for the lpg

thats great news Andy, in truth the killer for me was the performance or rather the lack of it!! still do love the colour
let me know how the decat goes, as im still toying with the idea of doing it to the 2.5!! trouble is so busy at the workshop i just never get a chance to work on me own, except to service its oil and filter etc!

Well chaps I have no complaints about my 2.2 Dti MPG. On a recent tip to WIM (about 100 miles each way) it delivered 44.5 on the way there and 49.5mpg on the way back. Things I look at are :
*Alignment
*Tire pressures, I run a couple of pounds higher that the manual recommends.
* Air cleaner changed each year
* Glow plugs and glow plug control module working correctly
* Clear all the cr@p out of the car
* Drive using maximum anticipation (foot off the go pedal when the car in front, of the car in front begins to slow down etc)
 I personally don't hold with Boditza's turbo vanes gumming up view. My 150k mile car has been consistently driven in 5th at below 1000 rpm with apparently no ill effects.
 MPG on mine is seasonally affected, always delivering 2-4 mpg more in the warm months than the winter months. I shove a piece of cardboard in front of the rad when it gets cold (with a cut out for the intercooler) I don't know if it helps but it does warm up a bit faster and minimises the running of the gas guzzling coolant heater when the monkeys are looking for a guy with a soldering iron.

 everyone drives its car whatever he likes it but that was my point of view and i won't risk paying for a new turbine 1000pounds when i can easily drive a little more revved. on all the forums i looked about diesel turbo all say to keep things a little more revved. and in 5th at under 1000rpm i really don't think that is a comfortable ride considering that everything shakes and the engine sounds like a scania truck ).
 the cardboard only helps in getting the engine warm pretty fast but after that... you might risk overheating. besides water isn't traveling through the radiator when cold but only after 92 degrees when the thermostat opens

p.s. you say that your turbine is healthy right? do this: remove the hose that goes from the maf into the turbine and with your finger on the turbine axle push it up and down and see if there is any play. normally there shouldn't be any but i doubt it because the dirt on the vanes makes them heavy on one side and light on the other and decentralizes the axle. when you see the play don't panic because it can go like that for a lot on miles but sometimes it doesn't

The best way to keep the turbine operational is this.
After stopping leave the car turned on for one or two minutes before turning it off.
This will help all residual dirt in the turbine to be burnt.
This is highly recomended on all turbine powered cars especially diesel ones

40mpg is about what i get ,i think thats faairly good for a car of this size

It looks like I'm about right then in terms of MPG. My journey to work is a mixture of 'B' roads and dual carriageways and I average 37-39MPG in the DTi.

On a run down the west country I can get the average up (by resetting the BC before I go) to the high 40s if I keep it at around 65mph.

Like a few people who have posted I tried cleaning my Airflow meter and I managed to improve my low down torque but it had little effect on the fuel economy.
