need help understanding the 2.5 engine
« on: 15 June 2011, 15:13:58 »

Right a few things....

What is the multi ram all about, what does it do and why is it needed? Other cars that sport the engine don't have this?

Second is why does it have two throttles and not just one, like on the calibra and vectra?

Also I have a split hose, on the back of the intake there are four hoses making their way onto the 'ecotec' cover well the third hose from the left is split I have fixed it now but what are these breather hoses for? Or where do they lead, would this lead to loss in power?

I will probably have more questions as soon as these have been answered lol

Thanks

so the multi ram is there to spread the torque rather than have it peek?

are there any graphs to show what the torque curve is like without the multi ram? is it there to smooth the ride of the engine...the link is a bit bleek, and still doesnt really explain a aweful lot

Remember the fuel maps assume that the multiram is there and working.

When the multiram doesn't work, as on TheDaddy's car, its flat as hell

The rear suspension does a decent job of keeping the rear in contact with the ground, and with good quality tyres, should grip reasonably well.

Its not like, for example, 2.0l Cortinas that would wheelspin if someone farted nearby.

Buy some LingLang/Nexen tyres.  That'll give your bum-hole a good workout at every roundabout/corner you 'negotiate' sideways/backwards.  ;D
