Plug/cable found at back of glovebox
« on: 27 April 2011, 21:24:26 »

Could someone tell me what this plug is for?
It's on the passenger side, and was in the cable tray in front of the heater fan, behind/under the dashboard airbag.

pics are 3mb+ each.

it's the 5 pin plug with four wires in the centre of the picture.

It's the phone pre-wiring I think, t'other end is in the boot on the underside of the parcel shelf.

Don't you mean connected to the trafficmaster and radio Andy?

Phone pre-wiring on the facelift breaker is a similar connector to what`s on the rear of the MID, not sure about pre-face :-/

No. I found a similar cable + a co-ax type plug/socket in the boot of mine yonks ago, but as I've the CCR700 i'd no need to look any further. Traffic Master is wired via an add on extension loom from the car to the radio.

Actually, whilst I'm asking.
I found another cable at the back of the head unit - plug very similar to an aerial connector, but slightly smaller.
and it's black, not grey.
would this be phone aerial?

Radio prewiring passes through the TM box and add in wiring and into the back of the radio (on a ccr2006 equipped f/l elite anyway).
Bigegg if you're going to use that phone wiring check that your tm loom is fully wired. It could save much head scratching when the phone doesn't work. Guess how I know. ;D

That's not how mine was done. Without the TM (as it is now) the car's radio plug clips directly to the back of the radio cage. With the TM fitted, the original radio plug is removed form the radio cage and a short loom consisting of a  plug & socket is fitted between the original plug & the radio cage, this loom then had a fly lead to power the TM box.

Had to modify mine as TM loom wasn't fully wired and didn't pass phone audio to HU so junked TM loom and grafted a TM plug into main audio loom.
Works fine but TM will always take precidence over phone calls as TM box controls mute and phone audio signal passthrough to head unit.

You are right Andy.  That multi-plug and Coaxial cable (you found under the parcel shelf I guess?) are for 'OnStar' which is only available in the US spec Cars.  :y
