Which alternator?
« on: 03 October 2011, 16:50:54 »

Hi guys just wondered which alternator I need. A 100Amp or 70Amp, I have a CDX 2.2 Auto Petrol on a Y plate.  I'm currently away from the car until the end of the week so can't check myself. Any help is greatly appreciated

According to the TC site:

2.2i 16v - Z22XE   100 AMP; Ident QY, WY, XR; Bosch / Delco Remy - R1530052
2.2i 16v - Z22XE   120 AMP; Ident PS, UQ, XT;  Bosch                   - R1530053
2.2i 16v - Y22XE   100 AMP; Ident QY, WY, XR; Bosch / Delco Remy - R1530052
2.2i 16v - Y22XE   120 AMP; Ident PS, UQ, XT;  Bosch                   - R1530053

I guess the simplest way to interpret this is replace with the same rating as the existing one but, since you can't check this, possibly best to PM your reg to someone with EPC (Jimbob and a few others who may be along soon).

One certainty is that it is not a 70A job.
