I had heard from a source that the French 'know how to make a good diesel engine'

If thats the case, It's a shame they can't apply their expertise to the rest of the vehicle!

My first car was a Renault 5 GTL 1.3 that cost £150 and half a load of hay!!  :D

I loved it and totally thrashed it as only teenagers can!! ;D Going round roundabouts as fast as I could, tipped over at 45 degrees was always good for a laugh  ;D ;D ;D

For all that it was very forgiving and kept on going until the rust killed it!!  :'(  By then tho it was more filler, ice cream boxes and baler twine than quality French steel!!!  ::)  :(  :)

The 107, along with its Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1 cousins, is one of the best-looking small cars around

What ?????, who reviewed it ??, best looking what ????

This reviewer is obviously a kid who has never seen sex on wheels, such as the E type, Ferrari 308GTB or an Aston Martin. I suppose he could say its the best looking cause the rest are ugly. I saw another skoda superb today, its just not well proportioned, the shape is ugly, almost as if they took a boot from one car, a bonnet from another and filled in the middle.Ugh...

Most Vauxhall's look good, the Omega shape is well proportioned and still looks good beside a lot of new cars.

My son in law had a megane T reg, and renault still do the old trick of putting the brake pipe inside a rubber pipe in such a position that it collects water and hence rust through. I thought most car designers knew about that one  :-X

I had a Laguna Mk. 1 which I found a decent, solid car. Totally bland and uninspiring but did the job it was designed for with few problems. The later Laguna, however, and anything Renault are making today is a total crock, IMHO. Mostly made out of tupperware and full of pointless gadgets that are bound not to work, given the French approach to anything electrical.

I wouldn't touch a ShCitroen with a barge pole. My mate had a brand new Saxo and they couldn't even make the fuel gauge work! My colleague's wife had one where the fuse box melted. Come on, guys, it's I2R - not exactly rocket science. With them being so unreliable you would have thought parts would be readily available but both are frequently off the road for 2 weeks at a time waiting for fairly run-of--the-mill parts to arrive.

As for Peugeot, other than the pure lunacy of the 205GTI I don't think they've ever made a car that I've taken a second glance at. Pure pipe and slippers.

Your average Omega owner then. Peugeot like Omegas nice and comfy, pipe and slippers.... :D :D :D
