Can they be removed from the front?
No.

Have a look at the Maint Guide for changing CDC3 on NCDC radio.  Similar process :y

Just considering future replacement. TBH I'm not that bothered at the minute as I use an iPod via the cassette player, but it looks poor  :-[

CDC3's come up often enough on ebay. MUST be from a CDC3, which makes it a little more challenging though.

Nope, but as said, replacement CDC3 must be from a CCR2006

As to cost...  ...patience ;).  Picked up a CCR2006 for under £30 delivered a few weeks back ;)
