GM went to the 5W30 fully synthetic oils late in the production life of the Omega to extend the service intervals. So that oil is perfectly suited.

However, I like to oil service the car well within the old service interval, so change the oil every 3-4k, and therefore the extra cost over 10W40 semi is not worthwhile, IMHO.  I am of the opinion that I'd rather change the oil more regularly with a cheaper (but still very good quality) oil, rather than less often using an expensive premium oil.

So as said, dexos2 will be absolutely fine. Especially in Bishop Aukland.

last summer , highest  temps were reaching 45-46 celcius here (not under the sun)..
