Personally I would have got rid ASAP know what I mean

.....
Yes ;) ;)
I bought mine looooong before OOF ;)
-
Yep !!
...but the OOF certainly adds to the experience. :y
-
Of Course :y :y
OOF is like a must have optional extra :y :y :y :y :y
-
Probably as it is a sort of masochistic pleasure or alternatively I am undergoing punishment for misdeeds in a previous life.
-
I would hope so. But without all the "heads ups" on preventative maintanance, I'd probably have thrown in the towel a while back tbh.
-
Nope, because I would never have begun to DIY maintain it, garage bills would have meant i would have swapped it out a long time ago.
Probably gone back to a Ford :-X
-
Nope , many times ive wanted to throw hammers at it ;D, without oof and its helpful members i would have given up a long time ago and probably be driving a nissan micra ;D
-
Have to say this....although this is the best place on earth.....it is a bit scaremongering at times ;D ;D
When you read General/Electrical help, if does put the fear of crap up you, thinking what MAY go wrong, but never does. There must be loads of people that own this fantastic car, but are not members here.......how do they go on.
I'll bet some of you have had miggy's for years, and have not had some of the horror stories that happen here. ;)
But its nice knowing that there is help in the background :y :y :y
Also......comeraderie :y :y :y Of the best...... offers of help....second to none.
Probably the car would survive....but would we !!!!!!!!! :y ;D ;D ;D
May you own miggy's for years ;)

I own and drive an Omega! :-X ;)

Don't get the significance, Andy....since I have been a member, I thought the term miggy was an affectionate term ?????
Am I misreading ???
-
oof has helped me no end tbh, deffo in helping maintain them, although i was a mechanic anyway but on citroens so wasnt genned up on the vaux tbh. yes the forum has saved me loads of money but due to my growing affection for the omega its actually cost me a fortune buying/selling & breaking the buggers. lol.
still a great site to be on, & long may it continue imho.
jon. :y
oh, & happy christmas too. ;)

It's just a term I don't particularly like. ;) ;)
-
Well Andy....I am glad you said that, because I am now keen on that terminology either :y :y :y :y

We'll have to start a campaign to stamp it out. ;D ;D ;D

Yes I would as I owned one miggy before I knew the OOF existed, and worked on many other cars including a Senator and Carlton's using personal knowledge and skills, and the odd maintenance manual.
What the OOF has done is given me the confidence to tackle jobs on the miggy, and target specific issues knowing what I am looking for, saving huge financial cost and much frustration. But actually that still would not make me give up my large Vauxhall, no more than it did in the past :y :y :y :y

Well as I've always liked and wanted a Omega then I'd still have one, the OOF is kinda a haynes manual on steroids crossed with a pint at the local with ya mates

There's always been a wealth of knowledge on the Autobahnstormers site. I think that the OOF has just benefited from the wider spread use of the Internet in recent years, the ABS used to have an email based 'forum' years ago ...... way before OOF started that would sort your straight 6 out.
-
I owned my first 2.0 Omega estate for 6 years before I stumbled upon OOF and managed to sort all the usual problems such as cam sensor and wishbones etc. on my own as I have worked on cars all my driving life. I must say though that all the amazing maintenance guides on this site have helped me considerably since, especially repairing my drivers door solenoid switch recently and the help available here is second to none, long may it last!

I used that on my first Omega owning experience between 1997 and 2001. The ABS help was useful, but the system very clunky. They were also much more geared up to the other models as the Omega was still a production model and significantly more expensive than they are now. It's interesting that I had many of the problems back then that still afflict the model now - but things are much more easy to resolve due to the number of cars being broken providing low cost parts and the priceless maint guide section.

I bought ran and sold my first Omega without ever having heard of the OOF,indeed it wasn't until I collected my present Omega that the OOF was recomended to me by the guy I was buying it off.So yes I would have, but the OOF certainly makes the ownership experience a whole lot easier and cheaper, with sound advice saving £s in guesswork/"professional"help.
